This itinerary is only a sample of our South Africa tours. Your Fair Trade tour is fully customizable. We have suggested an itinerary which goes one way from Cape Town to Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth). This tour can easily be done in reverse or as a return trip.
Sample itinerary of our South
Day 1: Cape Town
Go for a tour in the city and surrounding area, including Table Mountain, city centre, Company’s Gardens, the Bo Kaap, Signal Hill and V&A Waterfront. A big part of this tour is walking around the city with your guide and getting to know the city. Experience different cultures, history and geography and go to the top of the world-famous Table Mountain with spectacular views over the Peninsula, city, Lions Head and Atlantic seaboard.

Day 2: Cape Peninsula
You won’t believe the beautiful scenery you will experience in one day on the Cape Peninsula. We will start by driving to the beautiful Atlantic seaside suburbs of Clifton and Camps Bay and see the Twelve Apostles. We will then take the coastal road to the Hout Bay harbour. After Hout Bay, onto a scenic drive up Chapman’s Peak, one of the best views in the region. We will then travel on to the Cape of Good Hope, the furthest southwestern point in Africa. We will have time for hiking to the Cape Point lighthouse and have lunch in the Nature Reserve. On our way back we will take the scenic route back to Cape Town via Vishoek and Muizenberg.

Day 3: Cape Winelands
During this full day tour, you will experience the best of the Cape Winelands. You will not only experience great food and wine, but beautiful scenery and spectacular views. Your guide will elaborate on the interesting and long history of the Cape Winelands and we will visit at least three wineries for tastings and a cellar tour. First, we will visit Fairtrade Bosman Winery for a cellar tour and tastings. Secondly Fair Trade Spier Wine estate for tastings and a picnic-style lunch and lastly – the famous Villiera Wine Estate. Villiera is known for their top-class Bubbly, but also known for being a leader in sustainability.

Day 4: Stellenbosch – Hermanus – De Kelders
We depart from the Winelands for Hermanus. We follow the scenic coastal road, stopping at Betties Bay to view a colony of endangered African penguins. You can spend the afternoon in the seaside resort town of Hermanus. Hermanus is famous for hundreds of Southern Right Whales during the whale season (July to November) and has many shops, restaurants and markets. In the afternoon we will drive on to De Kelders. De Kelders is one of the best whale watching spots along the whale coast where you will check into your accommodation overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The afternoon can be spent relaxing at your Guest House or going for a walk along the coast.

Day 5: Cape Agulhas – Oudtshoorn
We travel to Oudtshoorn in the Little Karoo via the scenic and spectacular Route 62. Route 62 is South Africa’s longest wine route. Oudtshoorn is also known as the Ostrich Capital of the World. In the afternoon we will be experiencing the subterranean beauty of the Cango Caves on a guided adventure tour.

Day 6: Oudtshoorn - Knysna - Crags
After breakfast we head over the spectacular Outeniqua Mountain pass where we will explore Wilderness National Park with some canoes. Enjoy an easy paddle up the Touw River through indigenous forest, enjoying the abundance of birdlife. After about 40 minutes, the canoes will be left for a 2km hike along a boardwalk, which will take us to a lovely waterfall and rock pools. After the canoeing, we will check into our Hotel for the next three nights at The Crags.

Day 7: Crags - Knysna - Plettenberg Bay - Crags
Today we will head to the famous town of Knysna via the spectacular Lake District of the Garden Route. This up-market little town is filled with curios, restaurants and a waterfront. Here you will be able to have lunch and do some shopping before we visit the beautiful Knysna Heads viewpoint. In the afternoon you can enjoy a sunset boat cruise on the famous Knysna River Estuary.

Day 8: Crags - Tsitsikamma
After breakfast, off to Tsitsikamma National Park. En Route we will stop at Bloukrans Bridge to view the world’s highest bungee jump bridge (216 meters). There is plenty of time for the adventure seekers among you to test their courage. The afternoon will be spent in Tsitsikamma National Park with its unique combination of indigenous forest and beautiful Indian Ocean coastline. The park has a wide choice of activities for all, including long and short hikes, crossing a suspension bridge and swimming.

Day 9: Tsitsikamma – Addo safari – Amakhala Private Game Reserve
Up early, today we leave the Garden Route for safaris in the malaria-free Eastern Cape. We will spend the morning (+/-3 hours) exploring Addo Elephant National Park. This is a 28,000-hectare National Reserve. It includes over 600 elephants and some Cape buffalo, lion, black rhino, warthog, zebra, eland, kudu, hartebeest and many more animals. After an exciting morning of game viewing in Addo we will head to Amakhala Private Game Reserve. Here you will go on a sunset game drive and enjoy dinner at Safari Lodge.
