Uniquely Elgin Private Tour Itinerary
The Elgin Valley is located approximately one hour to the east of Cape Town, over the Sir Lowry’s mountain pass. Elgin Valley farms produce excellent cool-climate wines and produce 60% of South Africa’s apple crop! They are particularly well known for their Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
We will start with an olive and olive oil tasting at Morgenster in Somerset West. Next stop is the popular Peregrine Farm Stall for some coffee and rusks and to browse the many locally-produced farm goods, from honey and chocolates, to preserves and cheeses, to fresh local apples produced in the Valley.
In the afternoon we visit one of the many boutique wine farms in the Elgin Valley. Here you will get a feel for the off-the-beaten-track intimacy which Elgin is famous for amongst locals, and taste some of the best wines this region has to offer, from elegant reds, to crisp whites and renowned M.C.C. (sparkling wine).
For lunch, we recommend tapas at South Hill Vineyards, or SALT at Paul Cluver. Lunch is for clients’ account. We will happily assist with bookings.
If the tour occurs on Friday – Sunday, we will stop at the popular Elgin Railway market, to taste freshly made apple cider and visit with the locals.
